CARE

Our Services

Applied Care and Development (ACAD) offer a variety of structured support placements to children and young people. ACAD adopt a pedagogical approach to service delivery amalgamating care, education and personal development as a unified holistic service of support.

Short term assessment placements can last for up to 6 weeks depending on the needs of the young person, while our long term care can provide a warm and secure environment to aid in the transition between residential care and independent living.

Our Outreach Support Initiative is a flexible open-ended programme of care and support to children and young people aged 5 and upwards and can be effective in the areas of crisis management and prevention and keeping families together.

Each placement is tailored to meet the needs of the young person, whether early intervention/assessment, respite, crisis, long or short term. We also provide an Outreach Service for those families and young people who require additional support in the home environment.

During their stay with Applied Care and Development (ACAD) each young person is assisted and supported to develop an individual care plan, education/development plan and personal risk assessment. Each young person is encouraged to express their views in the day to day care they receive and are actively involved in our recruitment process.

Applied Care and Development provides an environment that facilitates growth, individualism, change and fulfilment in young people, families and societies. We believe that young people should be able to affirm their rights as individuals regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion, creed, ability, values, beliefs and sexuality.

Applied Care and Development (ACAD) seek to enable each young person to build their own strengths, capacities and coping mechanisms, promoting healthy development.

Through our dedicated team at ACAD Education each young person has access to a range of education and personal development support. For further information on these services, please click on links below for education/therapy.

Our Homes

Our Care and Education staff teams are based in small family type homes in both Dumfries and Galloway and The Highlands, from which intensive support, education and therapy is provided. We have a range of homes accommodating between 2 and 3 young people at any one time. All homes are styled and equipped to the same extent and standard as a family home and every young person has a minimum of 1:1 staff support.

Careful consideration is given at referral stage by the whole house team to the ability of ACAD to meet the young persons needs prior to acceptance.
