ACAD EDUCATION SCHOOL SERVICES
Young People in the care of Applied Care and Development Limited (ACAD) have access to a broad and balanced curriculum meeting individual needs.
ACAD Education is a registered Independent School and is subject to inspection by HMIe and is an SQA approved centre.
ACAD Education staff follow employ the Curriculum for Excellence and provide support in developmental areas, including:
- Social, Emotional, Physical and Mental Wellbeing
- Planning for Choices and Changes
- Substance Misuse
- Anger Management
- Sexual Health and Relationships
Staff use nationally recognised programmes of study in their delivery including:
- SQA National Qualifications
- ASDAN – Bronze, Silver, CoPE and Short Courses
- Life Story Work
- Teen Talk
ACAD’s Education Team is committed to providing young people with the opportunities they need to equip them for their future in effective learning and personal development.
The team does this by:
- Involving the young person in shaping their Individualised Education Plan
- Addressing the barriers to learning, e.g. through self-esteem building and raising self expectations
- Working closely with the Care and Pedagogical Staff in promoting a culture of lifelong learning
- Providing an educationally rich environment
- Accelerated leaning for young people through intensive individual developmental work
- Engaging young people in the highest quality learning activities
- Building the Core Skills subject areas of Numeracy, Problem Solving, Working with Others, Literacy and ICT into the curriculum
- Developing a culture of ambition and achievement.
Through a rigorous approach to monitoring and regular evaluation of progress, the team reflect and respond to the needs of the individual. Our daily methods of recording and evaluation enables staff to further plan and inform their working practice, ensuring effective approaches to education.
Personal and Social Education places great value on the development of life skills, it is therefore an integral part of our detailed programme of education, individualised to meet young people’s needs and abilities, while remaining age-appropriate.
PSE is integral to the overall care and development of the young person.
