The Applied Care and Development (ACAD) Care and Education teams are committed to providing the best possible outcomes for each young person on an individual, needs-led basis. Our teams work in partnership with families, carers, Local Authorities and other relevant agencies to help each child achieve their maximum potential.

ACAD is committed to ongoing staff training and development and is an approved centre for the delivery of a variety of subjects at SVQ and HNC levels. All staff are actively encouraged to embark on a personal development programme and are provided with free training and support to attain the minimum qualifications required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.

ACAD has also adopted a comprehensive programme of development facilitated by The Pacific Institute. All staff are encouraged to take part in either the ‘Investment in Excellence’ or ‘STEPS to Excellence’ programmes.

Children and young people in the care of ACAD have access to a broad and balanced curriculum that had been designed to meet their individual needs.

ACAD Education is a registered Independent School and an SQA Approved Centre, and is subject to inspection by HMIe. Staff employ the Curriculum for Excellence and provide support in a range of developmental areas, including:

  • Social, emotional, physical and mental wellbeing
  • Planning for choices and changes
  • Substance misuse
  • Anger management
  • Sexual health and relationships
